Summer Camp and After-School Program

Children in grades K through 8 enjoy daily fitness, art, drama, basketball, soccer, flag football, tennis, jump rope games, movie time, and character education classes. Homework, computer and reading time are offered daily. Summer campers also participate in weekly field trips—Horse Farm, Great Explorations, Slip and Slide, Florida Aquarium, Ft. DeSoto Beach, Baywalk Muvico Movies, St. Petersburg Police Department K-9 Unit and Mounted Horse Unit and Bouncy House.

PAL officially charters Boy Scout Troop 312 for boys between the ages of 11 and 17. Weekly meetings and activities such as canoeing, biking, camping and weekend outings build character and strength.

Community Program

PAL offers various community programs including healthy cooking classes for parents and children provided by All Children’s Hospital. PAL also hosts a monthly “C.O.P. (Community, Officers, Parents) Night,” covering topics that include cyber bullying and crime prevention tips. Call for the current class schedule.

Athletics Program

PAL offers track, basketball and flag football. Both boys and girls teams are offered, serving youth between the ages of 7 and 16. PAL athletics emphasizes skill development and team building in a non competitive, positive atmosphere.

Police Officers

Through our partnership with the St. Petersburg Police Department, a full-time officer is involved in all PAL programs, from picking up truants on the streets to teaching character building in our afterschool and summer programs, to assisting PAL kids in athletics. These activities provide valuable opportunities for your child to have positive interaction with local law enforcement.

Mentoring Program

Through a grant funded by the National Recovery Act in partnership with National PAL, an onsite mentoring program is offered for middle school children. The children are taught “stop and think” techniques through an interactive DVD series.
